In 2014, Solstra assisted in the acquisition of the 5-star hotel, Copenhagen Marriott Hotel. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance of the Copenhagen City Centre and its beautiful harbour and Copenhagen City views.
The acquisition was based on a strategic business plan that included converting the Marriott-operated hotel into a franchise operation, thus taking over the operational platform and staff from Marriott International. Solstra subsequently divided the original entity into an operational company (OpCo) and a property company (PropCo). The division allowed the OpCo to focus on improving its cost structure and was subsequently merged with the Bella Group to further harvest synergies between hotel operations.
In 2016, the PropCo was exited to the two Danish pension funds, ATP Ejendomme and PensionDanmark, on a triple-net lease with a strong tenant in place.
